Jim Merkel's remarkably timely film called 'Saving Walden's World' about his fascinating life, family, worldwide travels and work is a should see by anyone who promotes peace, sustainability, and has children/grandchildren.
I was very moved by Jim's own conversion story from working for the war machine to then traveling to India, Cuba and Slovenia to find and share the stories of remarkable women who are working to change the world for the better by empowering local women to do sustainable agriculture, education and political action.
Particularly timely was the Cuba segment as we see Trump today threatening to invade Cuba in order to restore the US mafia system that was thrown out by the people's revolution in 1959. Despite the horrific blockade by the US for so many years, Jim featured Cuban people who are finding ways to keep the dream of independence and sovereignty alive.
