Santa Cruz, California - Resist what - an end to the Ukraine-Russia war? |
![]() |
Orange County, California. Truth is Russia was provoked since the US orchestrated coup d'etat in Ukraine in 2014 and repeatedly after. |
Indivisible, MoveOn and several other groups that led last weekend protests across the nation are in fact promoting the Democrat Party agenda and preparing for the mid-term congressional elections two years from now.
Indivisible in 2024 raised $2,501,804 from PACS. On September 5, 2023, Indivisible Action endorsed President Joe Biden's 2024 re-election bid.
Kenneth Vogel, a reporter at the New York Times, attributed growth in Indivisible during the First Trump Administration to funding from prominent liberals including “the tech entrepreneur Reid Hoffman, as well as foundations or coalitions tied to Democracy Alliance donors, including San Francisco mortgage billionaire Herbert Sandler, the New York real estate heiress Patricia Bauman and the oil heiress Leah Hunt-Hendrix.”
Critics state that the Indivisible Project has increasingly raised money as a grassroots organization but declined to organize/fund its local chapters, spent the majority of its money on funding the national office, and spent an “extraordinarily” excessive amount on salaries
Indivisible Project is a 501(c)(4) organization that says it "empowers [local] Indivisible groups to achieve legislative and electoral victories through legislative advocacy and political campaign expertise, strategic and coordinated calls to action, and a targeted electoral program." It is affiliated with Indivisible Civics, a 501(c)(3) organization, and Indivisible Action, a hybrid political action committee.
Indivisible Project has received more than $7.6 million since 2017 from Open Society Foundations, a nonprofit founded by Democratic mega-donor and business mogul George Soros. Soros is famous for funding 'color revolutions' around the globe to put in power pro-western (aka Washington) puppets.
I searched for an hour yesterday for the names of Indivisible board of directors. By law they must have one but nowhere could I find their names. They only list Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin as their Co-Executive Directors.
Why are the board members names invisible?
Critical analysis
We had a Bath Iron Works shipyard Lenten vigil (where they build Aegis destroyers that are currently shelling Yemen) at the same time as the Indivisible rally so I did not attend the
Brunswick, Maine event but a friend did. He carried a Gaza genocide
sign and moved throughout the crowd but saw no other signs about foreign
policy.
I'm confident that these groups will do their level best to keep these
protests sanitized from critical foreign policy issues.

First, the biggest falsehood. The mass demonstrations were not organized by the Democratic Party. The national organizations such as Indivisible, DSA, Political Revolution, and MoveOn support the DP, but are not affiliated with it. Second, yes, the Hands Off list included NATO. I challenge you to produce one photo of anyone carrying such a sign in the entire country. Third, in every demonstration that I saw published photos had people supporting Palestine. If you really supported Gaza, you would have brought signs and talked to people. Third, there’s not a single person who doesn’t know Putin invaded Ukraine and has targeted the civilian population and infrastructure. Stop being childish abstentionists and join the join the mass movement.
Joseph, you said, "Second, yes, the Hands Off list included NATO. I challenge you to produce one photo of anyone carrying such a sign in the entire country."
Just take a look at the first photo above.....
It's not a "mass movement" when the Dem linked organizers refuse to talk about foreign policy.
Your comment about Ukraine war indicates that you actually know very little about the subject. I urge you to use the search feature above and put in the word 'Ukraine' and see my posts going back to at least 2014.
Signs of a weak argument: hyperbole ("there’s *not a single person* who doesn’t know Putin invaded Ukraine and has targeted the civilian population and infrastructure" and ad hominem attacks ("childish" + "if you really supported Gaza").
Democrat Party? or Democratic Party? How did you choose?
Bruce, thanks for looking into Indivisible, the main group that's behind our national "Hands Off!" protests, and for pointing out that it promotes the Democratic Party agenda, gets much of its funding from big money DP donors, and has "spent the majority of its money on funding the national office" (instead of local chapters), including an “'extra-ordinarily' excessive amount on salaries". Re this last point, however, I wish you'd specified the "Critics" whom you say made it, and the sources by which we can verify it or the allegations about it for ourselves -- and I wish you'd do this here, in another comment.
Also, though I do agree with you and Joe Lombardo that these protests have been Democratic Party protests, /essentially/, or maybe we should say more accurately "Democratic Party proxy protests", I regret that in your article title you call them "Democrat Party protests" without qualification, thereby leaving yourself open to Joseph's initial accusation of false witness since they were not organized by the Democratic Party itself. (I'm thinking that saying just '"Hands Off!" protests' in the title and leaving any further commentary to your text would have worked better.)
Moreover, maybe like commenter Anonymous, I question your use of the term "Democrat" instead of "Democratic" ahead of "Party". Assuming that this has to do with your disdain, much like mine, for this party as far from democratic, it comes across to me as carping or venting, much as does the use of this term by Republicans, and thereby IMO it adds needlessly to the now all too characteristically resentful tone of our national political discourse. Indeed, to me "Republican" is as objectionable as "Democratic" -- plutocrats aren't republicans or democrats! -- so rather than to allow ourselves to sink into modes of resentment, won't we do better just to use the given names of these parties however plutocratic they be?
Finally, all this said, I think we need to see and relate to these protests as much more than any DP proxies wanted or still want them to be.
PS: Thanks much Bruce for all your good work over many years.
