U.S. Navy troubles in Red Sea

Houthis keep shooting down more US MQ-9 reconnaissance drones over the center of Yemen. The average unit cost of a Reaper drone is approximately $32 million. According to Yemen, 22 of the MQ-9 UAV’s have been downed by the Houthis, bringing the estimated total cost to US taxpayers to over $700 million in Reaper drones alone.

Also in late April the US Navy reported a $60 million F-18 Super Hornet jet assigned to the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier fell overboard into the Red Sea (along with its 'towing tractor' and personnel) when the Truman made an evasive move to avoid a Houthi missile that came dangerously close.

Last December, the guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg inadvertently shot down an F-18 fighter jet that had just taken off from the USS Truman for a bombing sortie in Yemen. While both pilots were subsequently rescued reports indicated that a second aircraft was also at risk during the same incident.

In February, the USS Harry S. Truman collided with a merchant ship in the Mediterranean Sea, near Port Said, Egypt and sailed to Greece for repairs.

Yemen maintains that they will continue to support the beleaguered Palestinian people as long as the Israel-US genocide continues.

In addition, Yemeni officials say the repeated US military airstrikes on the Arab Peninsula country are triggering a large-scale oil spill in the Red Sea, issuing a stark warning about an imminent environmental disaster for the whole region.
