LIFE IN HEART OF THE EMPIRE

Was working on the peace walk route some more again today.  Still have two nights with no place for walkers to lay their heads.  One church turned us down because the pastor was reluctant to take our request to her congregation due to the political nature of the event.  Peace is so political.  While on the call with the pastor I could not help but think of things like:

  • Thou shalt not kill
  • They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
  • But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
  • But to you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you
Those who worship the 'Prince of Peace' in these days of endless war sometimes have a difficult time  staying true to the very vision they kneel to every Sunday.  Hard to understand really but that's life in the heart of the empire.

Also had a meeting with two others today to make plans for a great event that will be held in Bath on Friday, November 21.  Amos Libby will play his Oud, sing Arabic music, and tell stories from his recent trip to Palestine.
