Japan's pacifist constitution is under threat, lawmakers agreed on moves to restore the country's imperial might.

Japan hosts many US bases. Washington is beefing up its presence in the region. Joseph Gerson (AFSC) tells RT that Tokyo's militaristic ambitions are being fueled by the agenda of its American allies.

Japan's current right-wing Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's grandfather was a member of Tojo's imperial cabinet during WW II and founded the political party that Abe leads today.
