US & EU must protect our social programs from the MIC

 

I offer here two pieces of evidence that the military industrial complex is coming for our Social Security, health care programs and what remains of the other welfare spending.

First above is the new NATO leader Mark Rutte (former prime minister of the Netherlands) who is pushing NATO members to spend 2% (and even up to 5%) of their national budgets on preparation for war with Russia. (Imagine how Russia feels when they hear this kind of talk.)

Rutte makes the astonishing public call for cuts in Social Security and health care programs.

The second piece is the very recent move by Elon Musk to take control of the Treasury Department electronic payment system that is used to administer the payments of the Social Security and other entitlement programs.

This current situation has got my ears ringing loud.

On July 19, 1999 the Space News aerospace publication ran an editorial entitled 'Mars Missions are Affordable'. The article stated that the Mars missions (and other space projects like Star Wars) were going to cost the nation an arm and a leg.

So the editorial stated: 'We have to be responsible corporate citizens and secure a dedicated funding source for these space missions. And we are now doing that by sending our lobbyists to Washington to secure that dedicated funding source which are the entitlement programs'.

In the US the 'entitlement programs' officially are Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and what little is left of the welfare programs. 

This story remains fresh in my mind because it has been one of my key talking points about how the aerospace industry plans to pay for 'everything space'. I even had an article where I wrote about this printed in 2004 in the French publication Le Monde diplomatique.

In the US there have been constant attempts to reduce these key social programs since the 1999 editorial in Space News. Now when you add in the Mark Rutte statement and Elon Musk grabbing control of the Treasury Department electronic payment system one might consider that things have reached the boiling point.

It should be remembered that Musk has long been calling for the 'Terraforming' of Mars from a dead hot red planet to a green fertile planet like Earth. His proposal is the blow up 1,000 nuclear weapons above the Martian atmosphere in order to achieve this goal. 

By 2004 NASA was predicting that the series of Mars missions would cost a half-trillion dollars. Imagine the cost (and danger) of building and launching 1,000 nuclear bombs to explode over Mars. Even Musk does not have that kind of money.

I am convinced that a key reason Musk has joined the Trump administration is because he hopes to be able to get his hands on the 'entitlement programs' in the US to be used as his Mars funding source.

This plan has been underway for a long time - at least since 1999.

Don't let it happen. Defend Social Security and all the other life giving programs in our nations.
