SPEAKING TOUR OF NEW YORK

Mary Beth leaves on Monday morning for New York City where she is being hosted by several groups for a speaking tour. Anne Gibbons from CodePink has organized the trip for her after coming to Omaha for the Global Network conference last April and hearing Mary Beth speak at that event.

The leaflet above advertising one of the events is quite stunning and I know that it will be a good series of talks for all involved. (If you click right on the leaflet you will be able to read the whole thing.)

This message of conversion is being heard by folks here in Maine and our chapter of Veterans for Peace is going to be doing a workshop on the topic at the national VfP conference in Minneapolis later this month. The hope is that national VfP will make conversion of the military industrial complex a priority in the coming year. That would surely be a great thing.

We just have to keep talking about economic conversion over and over again until it sticks with people. There is an old saying that people have to hear something 6-7 times before they really get it.
