The economy and security in Afghanistan are on shaky ground in the lead up to the Saturday presidential elections in Afghanistan. Female Associated Press photo-journalist Anja Niedringhaus was killed in eastern Afghanistan Friday by gunmen dressed in police uniforms, while her companion, reporter Kathy Gannon, survived the attack.
