The collapsing US military & economic empire is making Washington & NATO even more dangerous. US could not beat the Taliban but thinks it can take on China-Russia-Iran...a sign of psychopathology for sure. @BruceKGagnon

NATIONALIZE THE OIL CORPORATIONS

This picture speaks for itself...the oil corporations will make out like bandits from this human and ecological disaster. Isn't it time to nationalize the oil corporations?

I don't see why you're complaining, Bruce. Let them gouge all they want to.

High gas prices are exactly what you want to see. If the nefarious oil corporations use Katrina as an excuse to permanently raise prices to three, four, five dollars per gallon or more, so much the better from the environmentalist perspective. Those sorts of prices will prompt people to trade in their hated SUVs on more environmentally-correct hybrids and recumbent bicycles, improve public health and alleviate our American obesity epidemic by motivating people to walk more (to work, to the corner store, down the driveway to the mailbox), and inspire more interest in the sorts of alternative energy source favored by environmentalists.

Ecological disaster? Hardly. Katrina will end up being a godsend to greens.

I take back what I implied a few posts ago. You have no business trying to employ others, create value or make a payroll.

Stick to the activist gig, please.

Yeah, I know what you mean, Brian. One needs to have some grasp of basic economic principles to run a business.
