Speaking to Middle East Eye, Egyptian journalist Hossam el-Hamalawy explained Egypt's refusal to lift Israel's blockade on Gaza and allow aid through the Rafah crossing.
Attributing Egypt's policy both to "regional decline" and Sisi's "cowardice", Hamalawy added that Egypt saw the Palestinians as a source of political instability and pressure for democratic governance rather than a cause to be supported.
