History lesson 2007: Russia pleads for new security agreements

Vladimir Putin's landmark speech on February 10th 2007 at 43rd Munich Security Conference where he openly criticized the US for its striving for a uni-polar world, its endless wars and its disdain for arms control treaties.

For the first time since the end of the Cold War he made clear that Russia does not intend to fit in this kind of world order.

Despite his criticism, Putin didn't seek confrontation but called for a new partnership on a fair basis - where all nations had real security.

The Western mainstream media, however, distorted his speech and portrayed it as a malicious attack. (Note the smirking Senators John McCain and Joe Lieberman in the audience.) After this speech is when the major western media demonization of Putin really ramped up.

Russia's real crime? Seeking security agreements while NATO was/is under going steroidal expansion to the east.

To their credit, Moscow exhausted every diplomatic channel for the last eight years to avert this war but were repeatedly rejected by the US-NATO and its puppet in Ukraine (refusing to honor their signature on the Minsk Agreements) leading to the conclusion that Washington wanted this war.

Watch and judge for yourself.
