Fascism is roaring back - this story plus UK going to send Julian Assange back to US - free speech and free journalism is fading fast in the so-called 'democratic west'.

 

German journalist Alina Lipp runs a Telegram channel "News from Russia." Since she has been living in Donetsk for six months, the 28-year-old has been able to report authentically and directly from the region affected by the war since February - from the Russian perspective. The great need for such first-hand information caused the number of subscribers to grow from a few thousand to 155,000 in just a few months.

On Wednesday, Alina Lipp sent an appeal to her colleagues and users and posted letters from the Lüneburg public prosecutor's office addressed to her on the Internet. As can be seen from the documents, Lipp is being investigated under Section 140 of the Criminal Code for "rewarding and approving of crimes." In the letter, which is also intended to justify the confiscation of funds in the amount of 1,600 euros and the "withholding" of another 12,000 euros from her German donation account, the reasons are given, which are really hard hitting.

Since, according to the public prosecutor's office, "Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, which began on February 24" constitutes a crime under Section 13 of the Code of Crimes against International Law (crime of aggression), approving it is also a punishable offence.

Lipp's statements on social channels are likely to incite the psychological climate within the population of the Federal Republic, to bring about dissent within society and to sow doubts about the functionality of public opinion-forming and the truthfulness of media reporting within the Federal Republic of Germany.

Three weeks ago John Boyd Jr., the President of the National Black Farmers Association, said "We are in a crisis right now as far as the food chain goes with the farmer in this country," adding "We're going to see a lot of empty shelves and a lot more high food prices." 

Farmers are warning of a coming food shortage and are asking the federal government for aid as weather, fuel prices and supply chain issues take a toll on the agriculture business.

• Germany has chosen an installation near the U.S.-operated Spangdahlem Air Base to house the 35 American-made fighter jets it purchased as part of a military overhaul in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The choice of Buechel is significant because the base is reportedly the storage site of U.S. nuclear weapons in Germany. Given the F-35’s ability to be equipped with such munitions, placing the aircraft at Buechel would be seen as an enhancement of the NATO nuclear [arsenal] in Germany.
  

• US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Dereck Hogan has pledged that over “the next four to five months”, the Biden administration will allocate about $1.5 billion monthly for support of the Ukrainian government, in a statement that comes as inflation has shown no sign of easing in America.
  

• Author Jacques Baud is a former colonel of the General Staff, ex-member of the Swiss strategic intelligence, and specialist on Eastern countries. The characterization of the Ukrainian paramilitaries as “Nazis” or “neo-Nazis” is considered Russian propaganda. But that’s not the view of the Times of Israel or the West Point Academy’s Center for Counterterrorism. In 2014, Newsweek magazine seemed to associate them more with… the Islamic State. Take your pick! So, the West supported and continued to arm militias that have been guilty of numerous crimes against civilian populations since 2014: rape, torture, and massacres….  The integration of these paramilitary forces into the Ukrainian National Guard was not at all accompanied by a “denazification,” as some claim.
  

• Tsunami of economic impacts coming from US-EU sanctions on Russia....beware. Nicholls estimates that 20,000 of UKHospitality members’ businesses are still operating at a loss and 30,000 have no cash reserves." "She warned that 10,000 pubs and restaurants could soon be out of business thanks to a “perfect storm” of inflation, with soaring energy and rental costs. 
  

• Soaring fuel prices in the US have added thousands of dollars to farmers’ costs this year, according to Ty Higgins, a spokesman for the Ohio Department of Agriculture. He told Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency this week that record-high diesel prices have resulted in the cost of sowing crops to double. “Diesel is not the only, but the most necessary fuel in agriculture,” Higgins said. “When you think about the sowing season, imagine how many tractors use diesel, working day and night. What used to require $300-400 a day last year now reaches a thousand dollars,” he added. 
  

• The Pacific islands have emerged as "a key front in Washington's strategic competition with China," said Reuters' report, observers said. Since China is boosting its cooperation with the South Pacific island nations, this has made the US and its allies in the region like Australia more and more anxious as they see the region as their "backyard" and don't allow countries in the region to independently develop ties with other countries, especially a major power like China that Washington sees as competitor. Chen Hong, director of the Australian Studies Centre at East China Normal University, told the Global Times on Tuesday that "the US has positioned China as a strategic rival that will try to replace its global hegemony. With this outdated Cold War mindset, the US has persisted to perceive the world as two binary parts, 'us and them.' The South Pacific has become an arena of contention for Washington to contain, deter and impede China's cooperation and partnership." The Marshall Islands used to be a US nuclear weapons testing ground and nuclear waste dump site, Chen said. "The Pacific island countries (PICs) had long been marginalized by the US. However, since China has proactively and successfully engaged in mutual economic, social and cultural collaboration with the PICs as a constructive partner, the US has spared no effort to suppress and ostracize China's presence and interest in this region," he noted. Zhong Feiteng, a research fellow on Asia-Pacific and global strategy from the Chinese Academy of Social Science, said that since Antony Blinken visited Fiji in February, the first visit made by a US Secretary of State to the region in 36 years, the US is trying to send a signal to the world that it won't "let the PICs lean toward China."

June 12, 1982 was the day I began paying attention to the war in space issue.

After watching C-SPAN coverage on TV of the huge protest in New York, that event was followed by a speech by President Ronald Reagan's Star Wars chief - Lt. Gen. Daniel Graham.

At the end of his speech, during the Q & A, someone asked Gen. Graham about the big protest in NYC. Was he worried about it?

Gen. Graham replied, 'No I think it's great. They are out there protesting against nuclear weapons and we are moving into space. They don't have a clue. Let them keep doing what they are doing'.

That was the moment that changed my life and turned me into a peace in spacenik.

Update from Hungarian Community for Peace

 

NATO is not an indispensable condition for Hungary 's peace

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szíjjártó avoided the discussion initiated by the Hungarian Community for Peace (HCFP) in order to strengthen Hungary's sovereignty against those who want to turn Hungary against Russia at all costs and endanger our peace, said Endre Simó, president of the HCFP in a statement on Wednesday.

In a letter dated 31 May, the head of the Community for Peace, which is supporting the government's policy of opening up to the east, wrote to the head of Hungarian diplomacy that people want no one, for whatever reason and under any pretext, to force Hungary into war, and we would take a neutral stance on the conflict in Ukraine and act accordingly.

The Hungarian Community for Peace believes that the Orbán government is in great need of the active support of the peace-loving Hungarian people In the midst of the political maneuvering known as the “double Kállay dance of our time”. The mistake that Horthy’s Hungary made in 1943 during World War II when we missed the opportunity for a compromise with the Soviets, with all its consequences, turning our country into a war zone and confirming the Peace Treaty of Trianon must not be repeated.

It is impossible to maneuver indefinitely between an allied obligation and a national advocacy! We have an interest in living and developing in peace and in making Hungary prosper! The contradiction between opening to the East and western holding Hungary back from that must be dissolved. The key to this is national cooperation for peaceful, mutually beneficial cooperation with both East and West. We want to achieve this with or without Mr. Szíjjártó – president of HCP writes.

According to Simó, NATO is not an indispensable condition for the peace of our country. The peace of our country must not be subordinated to allied considerations, interests alien to our national interests.

We wanted to tell the Foreign Minister outright that it is unacceptable for us that Hungarian policy considers the support of President Zelensky to be more important than the right of self-determination of Hungarians in Transcarpathia. And this contributes to Kyiv's ability to use Hungarian men in Transcarpathia against the Russians as cannon fodders. We would like the Hungarian government not to allow our NATO allies to send weapons to the Ukrainian army through Transcarpathia, thereby endangering the lives of the people of Transcarpathia and the security of our country.

Simó finally announces that the Hungarian Community for Peace will do its job without the government, although there is no doubt that the country's sovereignty could and should be strengthened by relying on peace-loving Hungarians against those who, like Ukraine, would be willing to use Eastern Europe, including Hungary, as a shield to defend and maintain American hegemony.

 Here are some random comments that made some sense to me when I ran across them on social media. 

 

• It hopefully will prove much harder in the future for the U.S. to attract proxies to do its' dirty work. The U.S. recruitment and then betrayal of Ukraine will stand for years and years as a sign post of all the reasons not to be a patsy of the (former) empire.

• It is the fear of telling the public hard truths the politicians do not want you to hear.

• The NYT is right back to the conduct of the Judy Miller era, doing shameless stenography for the Washington blob. According to this latest nonsense, we are supposed to believe that the U.S. military and intel agencies, who have been working in close cooperation with the Ukrainian armed forces, have no clue as to what is happening - this despite continuous real-time, high-tech, airborne and satellite surveillance that sees everything on the battlefield and monitoring of Ukrainian and Russian communications.

• If you want the date the 'deep state' at least publicly took power, I suggest Nov 23, 1963, with the location being Daley Plaza in Dallas Texas. I'd imagine they held power behind the scenes back into World War II. But their public assumption of power occurred in Daley Plaza. I happened to go look for the last US President with large public approval. The answer was John Fitzgerald Kennedy, who averaged an 'approval rating' of 70% in polls during his shortened term. Can anyone imagine a President with 70% approval these days? In a democracy, should it be possible to even have Presidents with low approval? 

In 1910, a group of six people who represented 25% of the world’s wealth met at Jekyll Island to discuss creating a central bank. The five goals they set for themselves were: stop new banks from threatening their business; obtain the right to create money out of nothing; get control over all banks’ reserves so that reckless ones wouldn’t be exposed and cause panic in other banks; convince Congress that this was done for public good; and have taxpayers pay any losses incurred by this bank.

• I think that in the long run all thinking Ukrainians (of whom I am sure there are very many) will realize how they have been used by the west. With much bloodshed incurred. There is a possibility that the new reduced Ukraine will end up as an ally of Russia. Eventually. Perhaps Chechnya will be an inspiration. Ukraine does not have a command structure. They have little control over Azov and the militias. Z is busy dealing with Us and UK puppet masters and his Generals are isolated. As the s''' hits the fan Z will blame Generals and want to arrest and execute. Generals will want to get retaliation in first and arrest Z. 

• I fully expect an almost exact repeat of the Ukraine debacle in Taiwan. Before the next U.S. Presidential election, the Neocon idiots in the Biden administration will deliberately or accidentally trigger a proxy war with China, which the U.S. will lose. Until the toxic Neocon ideology of the Washington Blob is exorcised, the U.S. will face an unending series of foreign policy disasters.

• Sandra Ramírez, a senator for the opposition Commons Party, said: “Colombia as an extra ally of NATO does not benefit us at all. On the contrary, we join their interventionist and war policies. In addition, it goes against sovereignty, which in the end is the voice of the majority of Colombians, and which is anchored to the self-determination of the peoples.”

the usa and west for that matter - don't do accountability and they don't take ownership when things go wrong.. taking responsibility is the act of an adult, and there are no adults in the room when it comes to all this on the usa and poodles side... just harsh gestures and sending innocent people into a death spiral, while supporting nazi types and fascists - that is what the west does.... forget about anyone taking responsibility here, let alone there being any accountability.... blame is the name of the game.

• The Ukies are putting teenage boys in uniform. I’ve seen some videos of kids with weapons who look like they’re 14… so, maybe they’re late-developed 16-year olds, but most certainly not 18. Right Sector & Aydar battalions: utterly destroyed as combat formations. Azov regiment: 80% destroyed. remaining personnel from Kiev companies spread throughout UFA companies to act “backstops” to shoot any draftees who try to retreat. Remainder of Ukie full time army: mostly gone. 60% minimum attrition. Some units 100%. Reserve units: mostly wrecked. 50%~70% attrition rates. Backfilled with draftees.

• NATO could easily use the Western portion [of Ukraine] to become a political terrorist state and keep dumping weapons in to it to never end the war with Russia. This is what any long term ‘Neutral’ state looks like an everlasting proxy war.

• Ukraine had 30 decades to get its shit together, but it pissed away its potential and time on corrupt bull crap and reviving nazism. And most of the people who left ukraine left not because they were in danger, but to avoid conscription. And from the looks of it, those ukrainians are also well off.

• “This is actually a conflict between altruism and selfishness.” I’ve long been a critic of neo-Darwinism, which has presented evolutionary progress as a story of the benefits that flow from selfishness. The effort they put into their propaganda has been extraordinary, and very successful, in the process sidelining cooperation as being irrelevant to evolution when in fact it is the driver. Humankind would not have survived tens of thousands of years if we did not have capacities for mutual aid, solidarity and cooperation. Humans are born social, they are not determined by a competition where the best wins. Besides, the best would have died very quickly if he had won against the others!? We can say that competition is a violence against human nature. 

• The US is hostage to the “war industry”. As long as they are standing, there will always be (many) wars.

• Lavrov uses the word “demons” in referring to the forces currently at work within Europe. We need to understand that Lavrov uses this word deliberately and means exactly what he says. 
  
• I think Lavrov might be using it in the Socratic sense of “Daimonion”, thus he means ”an Inner voice as personal divine guide”. I think he means that the EU are listening too intently to the US and it is the influence of the US that needs to be driven out of Europe.

• When the American Army annihilated Native Americans, it insisted that the survivors wear English clothing, live in English houses and teach English in their schools. The great Sioux warrior, Sitting Bull, lived in a wooden shack at the end of his days, his buckskins and feathers buried for safekeeping.

Moving testimony of these parents of 8 kids

While in the Kherson Region of Ukraine we found a large family that comes underfire from Ukraine almost everyday. In this report they tell their story. They have been waiting for months for someone to listen. In addition to the problems created by daily shelling. 

The grandma of the family will die soon if she does not find a new battery for her chardiostimulater and operation to put it in. I promised we would take care of it and make sure she lives.

Most Americans today believe “we defeated Nazi Germany,” as President Obama wrote on the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. It is a misconception fostered by Hollywood films that portray the US landing at Normandy in June 1944 as the beginning of the destruction of Hitler’s Germany.

In truth, America won the war in the Pacific, against Japan, but the Soviet Union fought and destroyed the Nazi war machine on the “Eastern Front” almost alone from 1941 to 1944, from Moscow, Kursk, and Stalingrad, and eventually to Berlin in 1945. Some 75 to 80 percent of all German casualties were suffered on the Eastern Front. By the time US and British forces landed at Normandy, Hitler had insufficient divisions to withstand the invasion, too many of them destroyed or still fighting oncoming Soviet forces from the east.

Soviet losses were almost unimaginable. More than 27 million citizens died, 60 to 70 percent of them ethnic Russians. Some 1,700 cities and towns were all but destroyed. Most families lost a close or extended member. Perhaps most tellingly, only three of every hundred boys who graduated from high school in 1941–42 returned from the war. This meant that millions of Soviet children never knew their fathers and that millions of Soviet women never married. (They were known as “Ivan’s widows,” more than a few doomed to lonely lives in the often-harsh post-war Soviet Union.)

This is an enduring part of Russia’s “holiday with tears.” This is in large measure why so many Russians, not just the Kremlin, have watched with alarm as NATO has crept from Germany to their country’s borders since the late 1990s. Why they resent and fear Washington’s claims on the former Soviet republics of Ukraine and Georgia. And why they say of NATO’s ongoing buildup within conventional firing range of Russia, “Never has so much Western military power been amassed on our borders since the Nazi invasion in June 1941.” This is the “living history” that underlies Russia’s reaction to the new Cold War.
