A round-table of Lisa Savage (Maine Natural Guard), Bruce Gagnon (Global Network), Alana Schaeffer (President, Metal Trades Council, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard) and John Portela (Int’l Assoc of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, former BIW worker).
They discuss the various problems that have developed within the military manufacturing industry, especially regarding foreign interventions, militaristic excess, and the climate crisis, and suggest how local and federal governments should be confronting those problems.

The event was organized by The Charles A. Scontras Center for Labor and Community Education at the University of Southern Maine in Portland, Maine.
The three-day conference entitled “Just Transitions Summit: How Can We Fight the Climate Crisis and Achieve Economic and Social Justice” was held on April 3-5.
