Greeks protest porting jet fuel for Israeli warplanes

During the weekend of August 10, maritime shipping databases revealed that two U.S.-flagged tankers carrying military jet fuel for Israel had docked in Greece's largest port in Piraeus.

The Greek government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis allowed these vessels to enter the port despite warnings from international legal experts about potential complicity in Israel's crimes against humanity.

Upon learning of this news, unions and Palestinian solidarity organizations, included BDS Greece, called for an urgent protest at the Greek Ministry of Shipping's headquarters in Piraeus.

Dimitri Lascaris attended the protest. There, he spoke with a representative of BDS Greece, Dimitris Plionis. They discussed the vast disparity between Greek public opinion and the policies of the Mitsotakis government toward Israel and Palestine.

A handful of EU countries have so far banned such Israel bound fuel ships porting rights across Europe.
