Orbán’s concession favors the continuation of Ukraine war

Evaluation of the Hungarian Peace Community

Viktor Orbán’s concession in Brussels on the approval of 50 billion euros to be given to Kiev and the acceleration of the delivery of missiles, artillery shells and ammunition intended for the Ukrainian forces favors the continuation of the war in Ukraine, states the Hungarian Peace Community.

We consider it regrettable that our Prime Minister could not resist the allied pressure and made a compromise that did not serve the cause of peace. “The EU is ready to support Ukraine as long as necessary,” says the final statement of the EU summit in Brussels, also signed by Orbán, which also reveals that Hungary also contributed to the continuous donation of military supplies, new military orders and the increase of the capacity of the European military industry.

In exchange, Orbán achieved that the approx. 20 billion euros will not be given to Ukraine, but we can get it if we behave in a way that pleases Brussels. However, in order to raise the 50 billion euros voted for Ukraine, Hungarian taxpayers also have to reach into their pockets.

Because of all of this, our Prime Minister’s statement evaluating the Brussels meeting, according to which “We will not participate in the war, we will not send weapons, we are still on the side of peace” only partially covers the reality.

We really do not participate directly, but indirectly, since we voted for both financial and military support for Ukraine. Orbán bowed to the will of the West and thus did a disservice to peace.
