The collapsing US military & economic empire is making Washington & NATO even more dangerous. US could not beat the Taliban but thinks it can take on China-Russia-Iran...a sign of psychopathology for sure. @BruceKGagnon

History lesson: Spy tech changes, plan for social control remains

Ramblinactivist 2021/16, 8th September 2021.

The most effective books are able to transcend time; by applying a relatively broad, well-observed analysis of the roots of complex issues in the past, that continue to have relevance today. This is such a book.

‘The Technology of Political Control’ – by Carol Ackroyd, Karen Margolis, Jonathan Rosenhead, and Tim Shallice  – was first published in March 1977.

Almost forty-five years since its publication, ‘The Technology of Political Control’ remains a truly remarkable book. And one that, especially for those involved in social movements today, can still provide an enlightening view of how technology constrains our lives. For that reason it’s worth a read because of the insights it can give us all.

LBJ Zumwalt returns to BIW with key missing stanchions

The USS Lyndon B. Johnson left BIW for sea trials on Friday, August 27.  Limped home to a glorious welcome!

Four of us held our twice-a-month vigil at Bath Iron Works yesterday in front of the Navy compound gate. This is the place where the Navy oversees the construction of the two types of destroyers now being built at BIW.

While there one hard-hat briefly talked to me and told me that upon return from sea trials the Zumwalt destroyer crew reported that three stanchions that help hold-up an above deck were missing.

The person told me that routinely these days more and more problems are found with the ships which then require more work (and more $$$) to fix them.

Another worker told me that when the LBJ returned to BIW after the sea trials, the corporation told the public that all was well with the ship. Full speed ahead!

They have a motto at BIW - 'Bath built is best built!' Maybe not so true anymore as the work force is currently transitioning from the older long-time workers to a young generation with no ship-building experience.

Anymore I expect virtually every word from the government and the corporate oligarchies to be a flat out lie.

This Zumwalt (the third to be built) is named after former president LBJ who escalated the war in Vietnam after the JFK assassination.

You'd think already costing $7 billion for one Zumwalt destroyer, the taxpayers would not have to fork out even more money. But that appears to be the way things work inside the war machine these days.

When the first Zumwalt left BIW to sail to its home port in San Diego it broke down along the way. We've repeatedly heard that one of the three Zumwalt destroyers will be kept as a 'spare parts store' for the other two warships.

A very expensive spare parts store indeed.

Washington's gifts to the Taliban

Thanks to America, Taliban now has an Air Force. From choppers to jets to attack planes, the U.S. left behind an entire fleet on a platter.

Afghan collapse - an inside look

GI's in Kabul at the airport as the American military escapes from its 20-year misbegotten quagmire and death dance.

You get an inside look at the troops as they carry out their last mission in a country they never understood and could not conquer.

The mighty army is tasked with destroying much of the equipment that was left behind - all at the expense of the American taxpayer who will now be told they have to pay to replace the lost battle gear.

This is the American military today.

The troops mostly joined because they needed a job and a place to belong. Look what our nation turned them into.

Washington as been repeating this same script from the first days as the US Army hunted Native Americans and stole their lands.

The chickens have come home to roost now.

Bruce

PS Seems you have to click twice to get thru to the video which has a warning from YouTube - once you watch it you'll understand why they want to discourage people from watching. It reveals far to much about the US military.

Brunswick airshow protest huge success

Sixty people from all across Maine (New York & Massachusetts) gathered for two hours yesterday outside of the Blue (Hell's) Angels airshow in Brunswick.  More than 10,000 people passed by us on their way into the event during our protest which was highlighted by the wonderful presence of the IDEAL marching band from Portland.

Many flyers, made by Veterans for Peace highlighting the connections between the Pentagon's huge carbon bootprint and climate crisis, were handed to passengers inside vehicles as they literally crawled past our protest line due to the huge traffic backup.
