Bezos is too stupid even to approach engagement with any sort of philosophical context for his activities. Musk is a little more sophisticated. However, the vague and ill-formed notion of "Ensuring the continuation of Human Civilisation by colonising Mars" is perfect escapism for someone seeking to avoid the complex conundrum of consolidating it here on Earth as a harmonious, stable, enlightened entity in equilibrium with the planet and its biosphere is beyond him.
