In particular listen to the interview that begins at 3:50 into the video.
3rd Herd. Ft Bliss. I remember them all going off to Reforger war "games" back in the 80s. Instead of spending a bunch of time out at MacGregor Range, they spent a bunch of time in Germany that year. One of them, a Scout who went in on a weed deal with me, said "all the training they're giving me, sure I could get a good job... as a cop or a hit man". Sad recollections, that. My grandpa was still alive. He and the men at the VFW used to say that the big picture of world war 2, the reason the Axis lost was they ran out of gas first, and if the European Campaign had lasted another couple of months, the Allies would have run out of available fuel.
My dad served part of his time in Algeria. Taught me that there's a capacity for the puppet government to sponsor wars we'd never hear on the 6 oclock news. My own generation watched the Reagan Wars and or participated. It's alleged that Russia ran out of money before we did. Eerie,eh? Like, what a coincidence. Now, we have this. After fighting a war for 15 years now, against a few backwaters, one had a pre-war of 20 million, less than a tenth of the US population, had their economy blown in the weeds a decade earlier, another was considered the poorest country in the world, oh... my... We're Still Over There! And we've spent our economy into oblivion. Again.
If you preach peace to the right wing you usually have to start and end with money. That's harsh. But true. And they really don't listen. The left wing, on the other wing, they're both on the same bird.
This has been an up and down day. It's a good thing I've already succumbed to PTSD, or I'd be made crazy by all this.
