'Comfort Women' Protest in Seoul
From our Wednesday participation in the 'Comfort Women' protest in Seoul.
Video taken by VFP member Will Griffin and production work by Zoom in Korea staff in New York.
I learned some of this in Tae Kwon Do, And from my grandfather, who was stationed all over the map with the US Army, he was an armorer. He fixed guns, for the readers who haven't had the experience. Rifles, machine guns, pistols, cannon, even worked with von Braun at White Sands and Aberdeen. and Austria, and the island of Kwajelin. And Formosa. Lot of places most Americans would not know because like the Comfort Women their story isn't included in our History Books.
Much like the Texas textbooks told us that slavery was "really" beneficial to the slaves.
Grandpa would tell me things. Like, there was a movement to get the recently (at the time) decommissioned Japanese military to join in with the 1948-1954 Major Hostilities Conflict in Korea.
Damn that description is awkward. Mostly because there isn't any official designation for the Korean War. Not then not now.
To shorten this essay and curb my penchant for excess words, the Seoul government flatly said NO. They had lived under Japanese and or Chinese occupation for centuries.(this is the Tae Kwon part) without once forgetting their language, their culture and their identity.
And they ain't going to allow Japan or America to forget it. It must have shocked them immensely that a third party emerging Empire like us would even suggest that the Japanese should come back.
As in all forms of rape, the victims have lived in frustrated anger, If any of the women can overcome that anger, that shame they did not put on themselves, then I congratulate them.
And those who don't or can't, I will never blame them.
