NASA is freezing virtually all ties with the Russian Space Agency - apparently as part of the White House's response to the absorption of Crimea. Contracts, visits and cooperation are to be stopped...except those related to launches of astronauts and supplies to the International Space Station (ISS).
Since the cancellation of NASA's space shuttle program the US must rely on the Russians for rocket launches to get to the ISS.
