The House of Representatives voted yesterday, 291-137, to reject a call for a planned and timely withdrawl from Iraq. The House instead said the U.S. must stay to make Iraq free. Free for who? For the people of Iraq or free and easy for the big corporations to slice and dice the country up.....spoils go to the winner.

  1. The House of Representatives voted yesterday, 291-137, to reject a call for a planned and timely withdrawl from Iraq.

Or, to put it another, perhaps more nuanced (not to say more factual) way the House voted on two proposed ammendments to HR 2601. '2601 authorized funding for State Department operations and international aid.

The amendment opposing withdrawal from Iraq was added on a 291-137 vote - the Guantanamo amendment received slightly lower opposition. Bot are non-binding provisions of the bill.

Actual text, Iraq provision: ...to enhance the security of the U.S. by making it the policy of the U.S. to pursue a transfer of responsibility for Iraqi forces only when they are ready to assume such responsibility and not to withdraw prematurely the U.S. Armed Forces from Iraq. Requires any withdrawal to be done only with careful coordination with a decision by the elected government of Iraq which shall be reached jointly when it is clear that the aim of the establishment of a free and stable Iraq that is at peace and not a threat to its neighbors has been or is about to be achieved.
Passed, 291-137 2 Present Roll call results below.

Actual text, Guantanamo Provision: ...to express the sense of Congress that the capture, detention and interrogation of international terrorists are essential to the successful prosecution of the Global War on Terrorism and to the defense of the U.S., its citizens, and coalition partners from future terrorist attacks; and that the detention and lawful, humane interrogation by the U.S. of detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba is essential to the defense of the U.S. and its coalition partners and to the successful prosecution of the Global War on Terrorism.
Passed, 304 - 124, 2 Present. Roll call results below.

You don't have to like any of this of course, but failing to provide the context is a bit misleading, um?

  2. The Good Americans are still clinging to their lies that America is trying to build a "free and stable Iraq." The only thing America is trying to build is yet another American puppet state.

This is what America really stands for behind its sinister propaganda rhetoric about "freedom and democracy": American tyranny, American oppression, and American exploitation of the the Third World

No wonder America is so rightfully hated and despised around the world. You fully deserve it. No amount of American psyops, "public diplomacy" or media manipulation from your phony "free press" will hide the truth.

  3. "Your hatred for yourself, externalized as envy of America and reinforced by self-selection of anti-American propagandist media, is what makes you think this."

Yes, you are absolutely correct, Mr. Vic. THEY HATE YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE FREE and they are jealous of all the wonderful freedoms that the USA enjoys--just ask all of America's prisoners being held at Guantanamo Gulag and Abu Ghraib.

    God Bless America!

  4. Nope. I am an American, although I will take being called a Canadian (and not an American) as a compliment any day of the week. ;)

Unfortunealy, American apologists like Mr. Vic can't even fathom in his brainwashed CNN/Fox News brain that there are growing numbers of people in the USA who are repelled and digusted by his American Evil Empire.
