When you send these missions based on chemical propulsion to Mars, they aren’t only going to be extremely expensive, but also extremely fragile. Imagine being on Earth, watching astronauts on an eight-month death trip from which there is no return, all because they made a small mistake or something failed. It would be an agonizing process, and there would be a lot of questions asked if you lost a crew. Well, in space, power is life. You can plan against a lot of contingencies by simply having more power available for a crew to use."

Notice how limitations to human activity - i.e. - space exploration - are never on the table.

"We would hope that, if not the US, maybe the Europeans, the Chinese, the Russians, or somebody else will develop a nuclear-electric power capability that we can marry up to this rocket. We have to realize that the US is no longer the only player."

This is rhetoric from the Bush-era. This is de-facto policy now: let other countries fund space development, but make no mistake, the U.S. will continue with its "Full Spectrum Dominance" doctrine. The U.S. fully intends to dominate space. The ACTivist magazinehttp://activistmagazine.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10853024.post-58104361405302905762010-04-16T23:29:25.000-05:002010-04-16T23:29:25.000-05:00To hear them talk ,they act like we have never bui...To hear them talk ,they act like we have never built or had a nuclear rocket before,of course they have just ask David Adire,it flew to white sands was the fastest thing anyone had ever seen before, puts convebtional rockets in the slow lane, why are they pretending they also don't have anti-grav tech,i suppose that new bomber they built doesn't have some of that new tech in it!NAW,RIGHT! they must think we're real dummiesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
