The collapsing US military & economic empire is making Washington & NATO even more dangerous. US could not beat the Taliban but thinks it can take on China-Russia-Iran...a sign of psychopathology for sure. @BruceKGagnon

The explosive situation in Europe

By Associazione  per un Mondo senza Guerre - CNGNN, Italy

Sanctions on Russia are preventing Gazprom from operating North Stream 1, the only one bringing Russian gas to Germany after the forced closure of its sister pipeline, North Stream 2.  The Kremlin reports that "Sanctions imposed by the EU, UK, US, and Canada have disrupted the technical maintenance system of turbine components that ensured pumping."

The U.S.-EU strategy is clear: to prevent Europe from receiving Russian gas at low prices due to the long-term agreements previously made with Russia, forcing European consumers to buy it on the spot market at extremely higher prices set according to speculative and political mechanisms by the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, which is now part of a large U.S. holding company.

The only pipeline that regularly transports Russian gas to Europe is the TurkStream, via the Black Sea and the Balkans. Hungary, which opposes EU sanctions (despite being part of the EU and NATO), has signed a long-term agreement with Gazprom to receive 80 percent of the gas it needs from Russia through this pipeline.

However, there are growing tensions in the Balkans, especially against Serbia through which TurkStream passes, caused by NATO's long hands, which could lead to the blocking of this last pipeline from Russia as well.

This situation is part of an increasingly explosive political-military scenario. The new British premier Liz Truss declares herself "ready to use nuclear weapons."

A further danger is caused by the fact that Ukrainian forces - armed, trained, and de facto commanded by NATO - are firing guns supplied to them by NATO and the EU on the Zaparozhye nuclear power plant currently under Russian control, exposing Italy and Europe to the very serious risk of a new Chornobyl.

The International Atomic Energy Agency warns: "With the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant we are playing with fire and something very, very catastrophic could happen".

Putin takes on the neo-con led west

Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, the Russian president challenged recent remarks from the EU's foreign policy chief Josep Borrell from Spain.

Very important as the US-EU fascists are now accusing their opponents (Russia-China-Iran-Venezuela-Cuba-Syria, etc) of being fascist.

A sure sign of desperation.

Andrei Martyanov writes:

As many of us continued to stress for years--Russia conflict is NOT just with Nazi regime in Ukraine, it is with combined West and its leader, the United States, and that Ukraine, while extremely important, is but one of theater of operations in this cataclysmic struggle between emerging new world order, more just and predictable, and forces of utter destruction which Pax Americana came to embody. This Neo-colonial regime is not just doomed, it already lost and the world is in the stage of mopping operations, with Europe being driven back to her western-most peninsula and with the United States being cut down to its proper size. Economic reality of the combined West is such that it is being dwarfed now by the emerging Eurasian economies, while remaining militarily impotent in a serious peer-to-peer conflict.  They don't like it and they feel the existential threat to themselves--they are correct. Their rule is over.

EU economic suicide

Moon of Alabama

Suicide is what European politicians have committed their economies and societies to. Who knew that one needs energy, as cheap as possible, to smelter steel, aluminum and glass?

No steel smelter, no taxes from steel smelters and their workers. No steel smelter, no payback of credit given to it. The big banking losses coming now will cause another severe banking crisis. Less money for the state means less pensions and healthcare.

This is ruinous for European states and their inhabitants. Meanwhile the U.S. politicians, neoconservative ideologist and money men behind the whole plan of using the Ukraine against Russia are laughing their asses off.

Germany is probably in the worst situation. Chancellor Olaf Scholz reacted to the Russia military operation with hysterical moralizing that was beyond any rationality. His government depends on the Green politicians in his cabinet. These are pigheaded ideological nuts. Germany, under severe threat of blackouts, will now decommission three perfectly fine nuclear power plants and restart dirty old coal fired power plants that were supposed to be dismantled. How Green is that?

Here is the how the president of Russia is seeing it:

Europe is about to throw its achievements in building up its manufacturing capability, the quality of life of its people and socioeconomic stability into the sanctions furnace, depleting its potential, as directed by Washington for the sake of the infamous Euro-Atlantic unity. In fact, this amounts to sacrifices in the name of preserving the dominance of the United States in global affairs.

The competitive ability of European companies is in decline, for the EU officials themselves are essentially cutting them off from affordable commodities and energy, as well as trade markets. It will come as no surprise if eventually the niches currently occupied by European businesses, both on the continent and on the global market in general, will be taken over by their American patrons who know no boundaries or hesitation when it comes to pursuing their interests and achieving their goals.

The next federal elections in Germany are three years away. One really hopes for some kind of coup but I see little movement yet in such a direction.

Where are the rational politicians who can take over?

Israel Provokes Damascus To Escalate

Israel continues to launch attacks on Syria under the pretext of disturbing Iranian weapons shipments meant for Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Late on September 6, a new Israeli aerial attack targeted the northern governorate of Aleppo. The attack was launched from the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, right off the coast of the city of Lattakia.

Israeli fighter jets fired a number of stand-off munitions, which hit Aleppo International Airport. A military official told the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency that the attack inflicted heavy damage on the airport’s main runway, placing it out of service. No casualties were reported, however.

The Syrian Ministry of Transportation announced that all flights meant to Aleppo airport will be moved to Damascus International Airport. The ministry didn’t specify when the airport could resume operations.

Arab media said that the airport’s runway was not the only target of the Israeli attack. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and other Syrian pro-opposition news outlet claimed that warehouses where Iranian weapons were stored had also been hit.

The Al Arabiya TV said that the attack came as a response to the resumption of Iranian aerial weapons shipments to Hezbollah via Syria.

Exactly a week earlier, a large-scale Israeli attack targeted the international airports of Aleppo and Damascus. Both airports were placed out of service for several hours. Five Syrian service members were also wounded. The same claims about Iranian weapons shipments to Hezbollah were used to justify the attack.

Israel and its allies are apparently increasingly worried of a possibly Syrian military response. After the attack on Aleppo International Airport, Israel placed its troops along the border with Syria on high-alert.

Moreover, the US-led coalition placed its bases in Syria on high-alert. US troops in al-Tanf garrison in Syria’s southeastern region as well as in the Conoco gas plant base in the northeastern governorate of Deir Ezzor were reportedly oredered to prepare for a possible attack by Iranian-backed forces in Syria or Iraq.

A recent report by the New York Times said that Damascus and its allies, who are known as the “Axis of Resistance,” have agreed to respond to Israel’s repeated attacks by targeting US bases in Syria.

Israel has launched 23 large aerial attacks on Syria since the beginning of the year. At least four attacks targeted Damascus International Airport, while only two targeted the airport in Aleppo.

Syria, who continues to face many security and economic challenges, has been refraining from responding to Israeli attacks in order to avoid a serious military escalation. This policy will not apparently change any time soon. Israel will likely continue to escalate its attacks on the war-torn country under the pretext of battling Iranian influence.

US-EU sanctions at work....

And Europe is buying Russian energy from China at hefty price increases.

How about those sanctions on Russia?

Working like a charm, but for whom?

All those hundreds of years of US-European exploitation of the global south is coming back to haunt them.

Blow-back, Karma, boomerang, chickens coming home to roost - call it what you wish.

It's real.

Arrogance and denial are the Achilles heel of the west.

The neo-cons who are running this shit-show of sanctions and attempting regime change in Moscow and Beijing are finding their strategy is blowing up in their faces. They have no alternative and can't back down so they press onward into chaos. They don't mind if the working and poor people of the world suffer - the neo-cons just see them as superfluous populations anyway. Not wanted, not needed. Let them suffer.

The rich elites will be taken care of - they have few worries. Except they are afraid the public just might turn on them.

It's good to see some people across Europe rising up in protest in recent days.

Will it be enough? Is it too late? Time will tell.

Here in the US most people (especially the loyal Democrats) are still sleep-walking. After all, their favorite party is in power and will take care of them....right?

(I heard from one friend in Florida that the only protests underway in her local community were connected to the upcoming November elections. One more sign how the Dems steer their loyalists into electoral work rather than work on issues that really matter to the nation and the world.)

I'll be on the street on Thursday and Friday holding my protest sign. It is the least I can do under these circumstances. Someone just might take notice....

Best of luck.

Is this hypocrisy?

  • How does the training of Ukrainian troops by the US-UK-Poland-Germany-Czech Republic (etc) differ from the Pentagon's infamous School of the America's (WHINSEC), at Ft. Benning in Columbus, Georgia where they trained death squads for the right-wing Central American dictators?
  • How is the US-NATO endless supply of offensive weapons and advisers to Ukraine any different from Ronald Reagan arming, training and directing the Contras in Nicaragua during the 1980's?
  • How can some peaceniks who vehemently protested US training troops at Ft. Benning and arming the Contras in Nicaragua today essentially remain silent about US-NATO training, arming and directing Ukrainian troops - particularly Nazi's?
  •  The Biden administration pledged Ukraine $39.87 billion in military aid between February and August 2022, for an average of $228 million per day, fueling a brutal proxy war causing tens of thousands of deaths.
  • See this video above from 2016 that shows how the US-NATO had a training base in western Ukraine and brought in US Army 'Special Forces' from Ft. Carson, Colorado to train the newly created units of Ukraine's 'Special Forces' which predominantly included Nazi's. The host of the video was Obama's Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt who was famously on the other end of the 'F the EU' phone call with Victoria Nuland at the time of the US-orchestrated coup d'etat in Kiev in 2014.

Proteste auch in Deutschland

Residents in Berlin took to the streets of the German capital on Monday (and in other cities) to protest against the government's energy policies and calling for the lifting of sanctions on Russia to help curb energy price hikes.

Some of my favorite commentators

It isn’t easy being Green – and a war hawk, but German Foreign Minister and Green Party member Annalena Baerbock is managing it pretty effectively. Recently she appeared on a staged panel and announced that she would continue supporting the Ukrainian war effort no matter the cost to the German people, which would seem like a stunning admission from any politician, to say nothing of a putatively left-leaning Green Party member.

Jimmy Dore and comedian Kurt Metzger are joined by The Duran hosts Alexander Mercouris and Alex Christoforou to discuss the neoliberal philosophy that has infected high ranking officials across Western Europe regardless of party affiliation.

U.S. wants a divided world

The U.S. has long planned to provoke the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Willy Wimmer, Germany's former parliamentary state secretary, said in an exclusive interview with CMG.

He pointed out the U.S. wants to shape the Eurasian continent in its own way and has wanted to kick Russia out of Europe for more than 20 years, and constantly inflamed the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in order to expand its sphere of influence.

"Sanctions against Russia are aimed at achieving a political goal, just like the development of the situation in Ukraine is also for the same political purpose, which U.S. allies must bear the consequences of sanctions against Russia as a result. That makes us face the problem of no longer cooperating with each other, but a divided world, which is not good for us," said Wimmer.

See this important interview with Jacques Baud (former Swiss and UN military expert) on the current Ukraine situation here

Washington's plan to rid all rivals

As far back as 2019, US Army-commissioned studies examined different means to provoke and antagonize Russia who they acknowledged sought to avoid conflict.
However, they also warned that if Russia was pushed too far, it could trigger an escalation that would spiral out of Washington's control.
Today we are watching this conflict unfold. Just how accurate was the study's predictions?

Joe Biden declares war

has declared war
on the MAGA crowds,
but first says
that not all Repubs are bad.
How generous of him....
A kinder,
and gentler
civil war is coming.

Joe has no plan
for the future.
He has no vision
for America,
except endless conflict
with Russia and China,
and of course,
here at home.
Biden is allied
with the pirate
(and fascist) forces.

Joe has no real agenda
for the struggling people,
or the environment,
and no proposal
to deal with our $30 trillion
except to make it worse
by printing more
confederate dollars
and handing them over
to Zelensky's criminal syndicate.
You know
how the blood money
in one hand,
and out in the other.

So yes,
it's going to get much worse.
The masses in Europe
bleak times ahead.
Why are the west's
sending their own people
into the snake pit?
Surely the public,
by now,
smells the rotting fish-head
on their doorstep.
What will the suckers
across the US
and Europe
entertain to do?

Will waiting for
the next election
be the miracle cure?

Not likely
since Mr. Big
has long ago
set these plans
into motion
with deceitful purpose.
Are they toying
with our minds?
Many eyes and ears
appear to be
frozen shut.
on your knees,
not likely to help
