Waters: 'Assange interferring with their plan'

"We are not going anywhere until Julian Assange is set free, I promise you that."

Pink Floyd co-founder and activist Roger Waters talks to RT after the High Court adjourns to rule on Julian Assange's extradition.

The Funnies - reflecting on my current mood....

Reflecting on my current mood

...it's all in the pictures below. I need pictures and maps in order to understand the world. I need color and context.

I need to grieve.

The sadness is deep in me - the DNA stored over many generations of facing the beauty and the beast of our Mother Earth.

I try to stay connected to the heartbeat knowing that is the source.

I am grateful for all those around the world who work so hard to be real and to hold your ground. Thanks for the inspiration and I try to share as many stories as I can from others engaged in this thing called living.

I wish everyone the best.

Keep paddling....

Message from Australia

Dear Comrades and peace friends,

I am writing to you all as comrades and peace movement activists I have come to trust and respect for different numbers of years. I hope you feel the same among yourselves in your separate countries.

Our three governments are involved in the AUKUS pact and all that implies for regional security (and survival) and for Australian jobs, dollars, sovereignty, nuclear waste and much more.

We have formed a coalition in Sydney (Sydney Anti-AUKUS Coalition - SAAC) and hope for a national network to be established soon. A lot of research has been done and is being shared to educate our supporters. They are still far too few however.

I am involved in working to bring environmentalists into the campaign so we have co-operating peace and green streams. This is going well – but my other area of trying to see if we can encourage Labor Party grass roots opposition to AUKUS is proving more difficult for a variety of reasons.

I am writing now because SAAC has called for a national action on Saturday 11 December. Other groups in different centres are agreeing to join but one city wants to go on the evening of Friday 10 December as that is Human Rights Day – so we have moved to a national weekend of protest, 11 to 12 December.

I am writing now to ask if it is at all possible that an action/actions could be organised and publicised in your country on the same date. A co-ordinated event would, we think, draw more media and street attention and so spread our message wider and attract greater support – even if the numbers at this stage were not large.

We realise that time is short and that you may have other issues that take more attention at the moment – but we would appreciate an event that shows how the 3 countries are united against AUKUS.

With best wishes and solidarity to you all.

Statement: On the Result of the Japanese General Election

YASUI Masakazu, Secretary General

Japan Council against A and H Bombs (Gensuikyo)

With an aim to realize Japan's accession to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), the Japan Council against A and H Bombs (Gensuikyo) made utmost effort in the latest general election to create a government which will join it, welcoming the landmark policy agreement between the Civil Alliance for Peace and Constitutionalism and the four opposition parties (Constitutional Democratic Party, Japanese Communist Party, Social Democratic Party and Reiwa Shinsengumi). The third point of the first paragraph of the agreement stated, "Aiming to achieve the Japan’s ratification of the TPNW, we will make effort for Japan's participation as an observer in the forthcoming Meeting of the States Parties."

Through publicity and signature campaigns conducted in all prefectures and localities during the electioneering, we informed the public of the policy agreement of the four opposition parties and called on them to support these parties so that a government joining the TPNW can be established. We could advance cooperation from the grassroots level and formed the basis for changing Japan in the direction of banning nuclear weapons.

Unfortunately, the result of the election allowed the government of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Komei Party to remain in power, but the joint struggle between citizens and the opposition parties drove them into a corner: The LDP's secretary general and several former cabinet ministers were defeated one after another in their constituencies. It demonstrated people's severe criticism towards the LDP's politics for continuing to turn its back on the TPMW.

Over 70 percent of the Japanese people want Japan to join the TPNW. Prime Minister Kishida said, “As the prime minister elected from the A-bombed city of Hiroshima, I will do my utmost to achieve a world without nuclear weapons.” He should prove his determination by his actions.

The NPT Review Conference will be held at the beginning of next year and is followed by the First Meeting of the States Parties to the TPNW. We express our determination to continue to strive for progress in the joint struggle between citizens and opposition parties and to enhance public support to make Japan ratify the TPNW and take the lead in the abolition of nuclear weapons by playing its role befitting an A-bombed nation.

Defending the climate while preparing the end of the world

The art of war

By Manlio Dinucci (il manifesto, Italy)

In early October, Italy hosted the preparatory meeting of the UN Climate Change Conference, currently underway in Glasgow. Two weeks later, Italy hosted another international event which, unlike the first widely advertised one, passed over in silence by the government: the NATO nuclear warfare exercise Steadfast Noon in the skies of Northern and Central Italy.

The air forces of 14 NATO countries took part in it for seven days under US command with fighter-bombers in a dual nuclear and conventional capacity located in  Aviano and Ghedi bases.

The 31st US Squadron is permanently deployed in Aviano with F-16C/D fighter-bombers and B61 nuclear bombs. In Ghedi, the 6th Wing of the Italian Air Force with Tornado PA-200 fighter-bomber and B61 nuclear bombs. The Federation of American Scientists confirmed in 2021 that "the Italian Air Force is assigned nuclear attack missions with US bombs, kept in Italy under the control of the US Air Force, whose use in war must be authorized by the President of the United States".

Aviano and Ghedi bases have been refurbished to accommodate F-35A fighters armed with the new B61-12 nuclear bombs. Last October the final test was carried out in Nevada releasing inert B61-12s from two F-35A fighters. Soon the new nuclear bombs will arrive in Italy: 30 Italian F-35A fighters can be deployed at the Ghedi base alone, ready to attack under US command with 60 B61-12 nuclear bombs.

A week after participating in the nuclear war exercise, Italy participated in the UN Conference on Climate Change, chaired by the United Kingdom in partnership with Italy. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned that "there is a minute to midnight and we need to act now" against global warming that is destroying the planet. In this way, he instrumentally used the symbolic Apocalypse Clock, which actually marks how many minutes we are from nuclear midnight.

Boris Johnson himself a few months ago, in March, announced the enhancement of British nuclear attack submarines:  Astute (price 2.2 billion dollars each), armed with US nuclear cruise missiles Tomahawk IV with a range of 1,500 km, and the Vanguards armed with 16 US Trident D5 ballistic missiles with a range of 12,000 km, equipped with over 120 nuclear warheads. The latter will soon be replaced by the even more powerful Dreadnought-class submarines.

The British nuclear attack submarines, which cross deep along the coasts of Russia, now also sail along the coasts of China starting from Australia to whom the US and Great Britain will supply nuclear submarines. Great Britain, which hosts the Conference to Save the Planet from Global Warming, is thus contributing to the arms race leading the world towards nuclear catastrophe.

Against this background, the promotional video of the Conference is misleading: the Dinosaur, symbol of an extinct species, warning from the United Nations podium humans to save their species from global warming.

In fact, scientific studies confirmed, dinosaurs became extinct not for warming, but cooling of the Earth after the impact of a huge meteorite, which obscured the Sun by raising clouds of dust. Exactly what would happen after a nuclear war: in addition to catastrophic destruction and radioactive fallout on the entire planet, it would cause in urban and forest areas huge fires that would emit a blanket of sooty smoke into the atmosphere obscuring the sun. This would lead to climate-cooling lasting also for years: the nuclear winter.

Consequently, most of the plant and animal species would extinct with devastating effects on agriculture too. Cold and malnutrition would reduce the survival capacity of the few survivors, leading the human species to extinction.

Difference between Space Command & Space Force

Another exceptional video by GN board member Will Griffin

Each month Afghanistan/Iraq war veteran Will Griffin makes another space issues video for the Global Network.

His latest tells the story about the history and role of the U.S. Space Command. (He also explains the confusing difference between the Space Command and the new Space Force.)

He uses historic film footage to illustrate the video which includes interviews with astronomer Carl Sagan, Ronald Reagan and more.

The GN has created quite a catalog of Will's videos which can be seen at our YouTube page here

What can we do to help?

  • You can first help by 'liking' the video and hitting the Subscribe button.
  • Please share this Blogpost link so that others might learn more about the dangerous Pentagon space 'control and domination' program.
  • How do we stop it? We've got to cut the Pentagon budget. Sadly at this moment Congress (Dems & Repubs) are under the thumb of the aerospace industry.
  • So our next best bet is to increase public awareness about this issue in hopes that will translate into pressure on Washington and beyond.
  • More protests are also needed at various military production facilities, Space Command/Space Force bases around the world, and universities where much space warfare research & development is underway with public tax dollars.
  • We must also vigorously oppose the testing and deployment of new nuclear reactors in space that will be used for weapons and rockets to Mars.
  • We must internationalize opposition to an arms race in space. Tell your elected officials (in all nations) to support a new treaty (Prevention of an Arms Race in Outer Space - PAROS) at the United Nations. Russia and China have been proposing PAROS since 1984 while the U.S. and Israel routinely block it and then claim innocence.
  • We've got to put capitalism to rest. It's killing us. Stop privatization of space and Earth.
  • Finally your financial support for the Global Network helps us do even more organizing and outreach. We currently have one full-time coordinator and two part-time social media staffers. And we have two wonderful boards (Directors & Advisers) who do much to help.

Thanks and best wishes your way,

A truth from Israel

Balfour Declaration in 1917, Palestinian Human Rights in 2021

By Adam Keller

This week

The British government

 Issued the Balfour Declaration

 And voiced its support for

 A national home

 For the Jewish people.

In the final years of

The British Mandate

The Zionist Movement

Accused Britain

Of not keeping

Its commitments

Under the

Balfour Declaration.

As far as the Zionists

Were concerned,

That was sufficient justification

For taking up arms,

Embarking on a rebellion

And killing hundreds

Of British soldiers and police.

However, the Balfour Declaration

Included a clear caveat:

The establishment of the

"National Homeland" was

Made conditional on

Protecting the rights of

The "non-Jewish communities,"

Meaning the Arab inhabitants

Of Palestine.

Can even the most

Enthusiastic Zionist

Seriously claim that

The State of Israel,

The "National Homel",

 Has met and is meeting

 That condition

 Set out in

 The Balfour Declaration?

History lesson: The real agenda behind destroying Libya

The Killing of Gaddafi 10 Years ago has Resulted in the Death of the Nation of Libya and the Destruction of its People

By Richard Medhurst

Muammar Gaddafi led his nation to become the wealthiest in all of Africa. A decade after his demise, it is riven by tribalism, terrorism and slavery, all because the West could not allow an Arab leader to succeed.

There was never really an ‘Arab Spring’ in Libya the way there was in Egypt or Tunisia. Protests were much smaller, and as time went on to show, the biggest players turned out to be extremist groups and foreign actors, each trying to get a slice of the country.

NATO’s bombing of Libya and support for rebels seeking to overthrow Gaddafi had little to do with wanting the country to prosper. Under the guise of ‘human rights’ and ‘democracy’, the Western military alliance helped murder one of the Arab world’s most prominent leaders in order to steal Libya’s resources and protect Western hegemony. Later on, as part of Operation Timber Sycamore, the CIA would find additional utility in Gaddafi’s ousting: funnelling Libya’s stockpiles of weapons and ammunition over to Syria to arm Al-Qaeda and other jihadist groups.

Seldom discussed in the news anymore, Libya has become a shadow of its former self, ravaged by 10 years of war and chaos. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and the other war criminals who orchestrated its destruction don’t want you to know how badly it’s doing.

From thriving nation to ‘failed state’

Known for his extravagance, Gaddafi boasted a security detail of female bodyguards, lavish outfits, and long, dramatic speeches. He also transformed Libya from one of the poorest countries on Earth into a rich, self-sufficient state, all while managing a tribal society in a country home to the largest oil reserves in Africa.

During his 42 years in power, he increased the country’s literacy rate from 25% to 88%. Libyans enjoyed free healthcare, free education, and a high standard of living. Basic necessities such as electricity and gas were cheap, and the country was guaranteed a strong social safety net and welfare programs.

Libya is 90% desert. Gaddafi sought to provide fresh water to all Libyans for consumption and agriculture – an endeavor in which he succeeded. He built the world’s largest irrigation project, the ‘Great Man-Made River’ in the 1980s. Boasting the world’s largest pipe network, it provides 70% of all the fresh water in Libya. Gaddafi called it the “Eighth Wonder of the World”. Costing over $25 billion, the project was entirely self-financed, without any loans or credits from foreign banks. Libya had grown to be a very wealthy country and had no external debt.

NATO bombed the Great Man-Made River in July 2011, destroying key civilian infrastructure: a war crime.

The United Nations’ Human Development Index provides a summary measure of health, education and income. In 2010, Libya was ranked number one in Africa, and 53rd out of 189 countries and territories. Today, its ranking has sunk from 53rd to 105th worldwide.

After the NATO-backed ‘revolution’, Libya has none of these nice things anymore. There are constant power cuts. The healthcare system has collapsed. There is no infrastructure. The standard of living has plummeted, and after 10 years, Libya doesn’t even have a functioning central government.

In March this year, a government of national unity was formed, after a ceasefire brokered in October 2020. While it has largely held until now, and elections are scheduled for December, infighting persists, and whether anything comes of this process remains to be seen.

Instead of an abundance of water, gold and oil in a thriving country with great infrastructure, Libya now has open slave-trade markets. Smugglers and human traffickers take advantage of migrants and refugees passing through to Europe, selling them off into bondage. Rival tribes and political factions fight over oil and other precious resources, determined to seize power for themselves. Meanwhile, pockets of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS), Al-Qaeda and other jihadist fighters lurk in the shadows, plaguing the war-torn country and its neighbors – groups who wouldn’t have dared establish a presence in Gaddafi’s Libya.

Once a prosperous nation, since his fall, it has been taken over by terrorists, opportunists and thieves, and has plunged into chaos. This is what has become of Libya these last 10 years. This is what NATO created.

One of Gaddafi’s best speeches was in 2008 in Damascus, at a meeting of the Arab League. Rebuking the violent invasion of Iraq, he offered Arab leaders a stark reminder of what befell Saddam Hussein, whom the US once considered an ally against Iran.

“An entire Arab leadership was executed by hanging, yet we sit on the sidelines. Why? Any one of you might be next.”

Chuckling at his words, other Arab leaders would have done well to take heed of Gaddafi’s warning, for, indeed, the US would come for Syria and Libya next. And just three years later, Gaddafi himself would be brutally killed at the hands of NATO-backed rebels.

Worldwide protests growing against covid passports

No Green pass protests happening all over Italy and throughout the world.

Young and old together.

People increasingly don't support the passports which they know are a key first step in the authoritarian clamp-down on the public.

No surveillance society!

If you want to take the experimental covid jab that is your right.

If you don't wish to be a lab-rat for big pharma then you have an equal right to say no.

But certainly none of us need this passport ID that opens the door to a dramatically segregated society.
