My home town at any rate. I 'mostly' grew up and lived in Plymouth a good portion of my life, had my business in that town, and still consider it 'where I'm from'. The rock, fake?! Blasphemy! Although there was no reference in Pilgrim William Bradford's journal, and wasn't even mentioned until 121 years later... The tale of it being the first solid land the Pilgrims set foot on is definitely a myth. They had landed in what is now Provincetown a month earlier and had explored the entire inner Cape in the shallop before finally settling on the abandoned Wampanoag village in Plymouth harbor for their settlement. The rock - hardly a "first step upon which the Pilgrims landed", I wonder if they still teach that in schools?Dan Ellisnoreply@blogger.com
